Ashford & Simpson are Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson and they began their singing and song writing career back in the 1960's with Ray Charles and Motown (Ain't No Mountain High Enough). They also produced and wrote songs for Diana Ross amongst many others.

By 1984 Ashford and Simpson had moved to the Capitol label for their "Solid" release. A major hit for them both radio and club-wise.
