Before Laura Branigan made "Gloria" a major song in the US, it was originally sung in Italian by Umberto Tozzi. Noticing the huge popularity of Laura's cover, Vanguard Records issued the original Italian version along with a new English version. Many DJs mixed between Umberto's and Laura's version to create an entirely new song alternating between English and Italian.
