Feb 28, 2006 | 2:35 pmUnjustly forgotten disco scorcher from "Auntie Em" of "The Wiz."
No special tricks, just painstakingly layered and produced seven or eight minutes, with real, LOUD horns, and one hell of a heavy walking bassline. and a singer who knew how to give a song a chance before letting fly with screaming, preening, enunciating histrionics.
I don't know what national chart history this song had (surely a modest one, for it was released at the top of '79, when the disco glut was peaking). Still, "Shoot Me With Your Love" was an absolute smash in New York City in discos of all stripes, and on black-oriented NY radio ststions in Winter '79. If I remember correctly Tasha even got a shot on "The Mike Douglas Show." You can still feel the excitement today if you can pick it up on the VERY LOUD cut 12" that
Atlantic released after it won the bidding war for the quintessential, charming flash-in-the-pan of disco greatness.

"Ready, aim, fire - my name is desire - c'mon shoot me with your love" CLASSIC!!
