Mike Theodore and his orchestra released the wonderful "High On Mad Mountain" album in 1979. What's interesting is that Dennis Coffey, who was a co-producer on many earlier projects, appears nowhere on this album.
Richly orchestrated, but with a mean and funky edge make this album and every song on it a keeper. A Disco classic that is required listening.

Apr 26, 2008 | 1:10 pmWhile "officially" released in 1979. I had been playing HIGH ON MAD MOUNTAIN since the summer of 1978. To say that this is a DISCO CLASSIC simply isn't enough. It was superb!! Very deejay friendly and dance floor ready, MIKE THEODORE was great!! Where and What is he doing?? Anyone know?? On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 10.
Bernie: I picked this up yesterday at a music auction, sealed for $1.00. Haven't listened to it yet as I bought 8 other records on the same day. Also picked up copies of Sergio Mendez' "Magic Lady" and Gloria Gaynor's "Never Can Say Goodbye", even though I already had copies of both (can't really have too many copies of collectible recordings!). By the way, I've been over the credits pretty carefully and I don't see Theodore listed as a musician OR vocalist, just as the arranger and producer.
