Hailing from the New England state of Massachusetts, Tavares had several Disco / pop hits during the early to mid 1970s with many different producers.

In 1976 Freddie Perren of Gloria Gaynor fame produced "Sky High" for Tavares, which was their fourth album and yielded two huge Disco hits, "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" and "Don't Take Away the Music." A classic album of the 1970s.
