MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

In 1979 Fantasy Records released a double LP by Sylvester called "Living Proof" that was a mixture of live recordings and studio material.

"Lving Proof" moves between Disco, Gospel and Jazz all within the span of this two-record set. If you are a big Sylvester fan then you will need to pick this one up.

Sylveter's "Living Proof" is on CD.

This is a must-have. Sylvester as his star was burning brightly but still rising. The album exudes the magnificent karma he had with the audience that night. Two Tons are also in rare form on this romp through various musical genres. I play "Lover Man" for in my jazz club and for jazz singers who want to learn a bit about what phrasing and stylization are all about. They ask, "who is that woman?" Before I answer, I play "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" or "Happiness." Then I tell them it was a man who, in another life, was probably a linebacker. Love ya, God Bless Ya, Sylvester!
