MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Here's a rare Launch 12 inch of "Give Me A Break" by Vivien Vee.

Vivien Vee (Viviana Andreattini), had a huge Disco hit with 1980's "Giv Me A Break." It originally appeared on the Italian label, Banana Records, which is hard to find nowadays. Unidisc Records however has re-released it numerous times.

"Remember" is another decent song, but I dare anyone to tell me what the heck Vivien Vee is singing about in that song.

"Remember?" I'll tell you: the lyrics were about a love before it went wrong. I much prefer this dark, moody production to the ditzy, singsong "A" side.

Vivien stetched her young pipes as far as they will go on "Remember," a fine match for the producers' sturm-und-drang synthesizer work.

Can someone can tell me what I don't know about Italo-disco's link with black urban disco records in the early 80's? I sometimes wonder, when I hear Italodisco Jimmy Ross' "First True Love Affair," which was a hit in Black America, or less groovy but soulfully-sung Italo cuts like "Remember," or Hemyl's "Keep on Rockin'" from the mid-80's. Obviously, the folks in Milan and Rome were showin' the love...but, specifics...please?
