STOMP was a monster DISCO record. Very high energy, very dance-able. Always increased the size of the dance floor. The chants on the song resulted in the crowd singing along. Great for remixing. I played it heavy in the PRIME TIME! On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 10.

"Stomp!" is an incredible disco party record infused with funk. I first heard this song on the "Dancin' Oldies" radio station in Hartford, Connecticut in the late 1990s. For some reason I didn't hear it during the early 1980s on Connecticut radio stations even though I heard most other top-20 disco hits at that time as well as the duo's other hits "Strawberry Letter 23" and "I'll Be Good To You". That's surprising, since "Stomp!" reached many high chart positions around the world in spring 1980, including #7 Billboard Pop and #1 Billboard R&B and #8 on the Cash Box Top 100 in the United States, and #6 Pop in the United Kingdom. The length of "Stomp!" on the CD album is 6 minutes and 20 seconds and it has about 118 BPM. The B-side track "Let's Swing" is a decent funk-dance song -- with horns, guitar, strings, and an electronic bassline -- that was never released on a Brothers Johnson album. This single holds A&M's release number 2216.
