Magnifique's "Magnifique" is a very good example of the Disco sound morphing into Hi-NRG in the early 1980s. Use of spacey synthesizers and a hard driving beat make Magnifique a worthy addition to your Disco record collection. Magnifique was produced by Anthony Monn who worked with Amanda Lear and Orlando Riva Sound (ORS)

Oct 21, 2007 | 4:35 pmCool, jimmy-on-the-spot!
Only other records on the label I know well are The Twins' "A Desert Place" (same story you describe); and "Dirty Talk," which sounded up to snuff. Great record, sounds like nothing else, that "Magnifique!"

Oct 21, 2007 | 4:32 pm123456789grr would be me. damn site wouldnt let me log at one time so i got pissed and threw that in for a name lol
trust me, siameese records is crap..almost everything ive ever heard pressed on that label sounds like bootlegged or over recycled vinyl.
this ariola pressing could be fooling to the ear and come across as comparable to a cd if in mint condition.

Oct 21, 2007 | 4:18 pmThe distorted density, neither here nor there, has aged this track very well, IMO; so have the sassy drag queens doing their thing.
I always presumed endlessly layered, degraded loops as a deliberate element of Anthony Monn's production, rather than engineering definciencies at the label...but maybe not, per 123456789grrr!

Feb 03, 2005 | 5:43 amForgot to add that the CNR label released Magnifique under the artist name of ' Charisma ' in 1979.

Jan 14, 2005 | 2:28 pmThis has to be one of my fav. records. And as noted above the first copies did ship in 1979. Also, a (rather poor) remake does exist (by Jersey Devil Social Club / Environ label).

Jan 30, 2004 | 5:03 pmI see the good copy has been submitted! Stay away from the Siameese Records pressings as they are absolute horrable in quality (as is everything I ever heard on that label). From the info I found on this once it was dated as 1979. A great track mainly made popular by DJ Bobby Viteritti playing this at Trocadero Transfer back when with his flawless re-edit.

That pictured appears to be the German 12"
