MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Gospel gone Disco along the lines of Alicia Myers "I Want To Thank You" is an apt description of "You Brought The Sunshine (Into My Life)" by the Clark Sisters which was very popular in 1983.

"You Brought The Sunshine (Into My Life)" was originally released on a small independent label before Elektra picked it up for mass distribution. Great song mixed by Hippie Torrales.

Issued as a white label promotional 12" by Elektra (ED 4924), containing the same tracks as the commercial copy pictured above.

For the record, up through 1983 Elektra had three 12" numbering systems, initially an 11000 series (beginning with what we believe was AS-11380 and ending with AS-11576) followed by a short-lived ED 4900 series (ending in ED 4924). The 11000 series did not numerically distinguish between promotional and commercial issues. Initially, the same was true of the 4900 series. However, shortly thereafter, Elektra began using a 0-67000 series under which all of its commercial releases were issued. This last series overlapped with the end part of the 4900 series, resulting in issues like that of The Clark Sisters being released promotionally under 4900 and commercially under 0-6XXXX.
