Grand Tour is the brainchild of producers, Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther who are best known for their work on THP Orchestra (Two hot For Love).
This Grand Tour album has a haunting quality to it hence the winter theme, but musically it shines bright with wonderful melodies. This could well be described as artsy Disco and even disected in a music class as it contains many textures and layers. Very well put together and required listening for those that think Disco is thump, thump, thump all night long.
The songs, "Grand Tour" and "Flight From Versailles" appeared on a rather rare Butterfly Records 12 inch Disco single, which is also highly recommended.

Nov 29, 2009 | 7:43 pmI remember buying this album I think in 1979 when disco was waning, but I didn't care as I thought it was a masterpiece. I haven't heard those songs in years and years and wish someone would add them on YOUTUBE or anywhere. If anyone knows where I can buy this album, please let me know.

Apr 07, 2008 | 11:33 amJesus, just saw that comment by "grand-tour". Glenn Rivera was easy on you. He was politically correct with you. I hope you get to read this. EAT ME!!! I played this album, sometimes in PRIME TIME! I used to get laid to GRAND TOUR, I don't think that your music could ever reach the high quality of this record. I never heard of YOU!!! And everyone who reads this site thinks you are an a**-hole!!--- As for the album, I got laid to it!! What else can I say!! A TEN!!

May 23, 2007 | 11:31 am"grand-tour" - obviously you do not appreciate a classic/Euro-disco sound - this is one of the finest arranged disco LPs with real orchestration and instruments - you must be listening with another style in mind - I agree with Bernie, in that this is a great production for discriminating ears.
