MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Although the Four Seasons' "Swearin' To God" gets so much attention, this is my favorite disco record by them, cheesy to some, yes! It is one of those feel good songs that I always sing a long to.

There was a great 12" version, and this one wasn't it. the REMIXED version I'm talking about was much longer, one side was about eight minutes long, with another version on the flip side that was well over TEN minutes long! Does anyone remember that, or is it that I've burned out too many brain cells" Either way, this is a DISCO CLASSIC. I played it to death. Great for a deejay to play around with. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a strong TEN!!!

It's a great version. For those people not familiar with it, it differs from the LP/single version in a couple of significant ways: 1. Only one verse is sung; 2. The funky bridge section is done twice, but they aren't the same (i.e. it's not extended via a repeat edit). I think they must have played it through in a long version form, but for some reason, only included the one bridge version on the LP.

Too bad it hasn't been put on a Four Seasons compilation CD. They've had so many releases with the regular version, this alternate would be a welcome treat.

Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are best known for their string of chart topping pop hits of the 60’s like “Big girls don’t cry” and “Walk like a man” among so many others, in the mid 70’s around the same time Valli’s solo effort was paying off with classics like “Swearin’ to God” and “My eyes adore you” the group reached the charts once again with “December 1963 (Oh what a night )” and “Who loves you”, and even although this song is easily available this days as far as I know this Extended Disco version has never been issued on CD.

PS: I was going to submit this one, good thing I checked here first. hahaha

You certainly own a cool 45 there discojunkie. I frequently play "December 1963 (Oh What A Night). That song is probably my favorite disco song by them.
