MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Perhaps one of Donna Summer's finest songs has to be "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It." One listen and you can't help, but be trapped into a musical journey that lasts almost 18 minutes.

This was released in January of 1977, specifically as a marketing gimmick for Valentines Day. The copies came with an LP-sized, plain white envelope, so as to be given as Valentine's Day cards.

THe album art is interesting on this one. The back cover has the Summer photo off the "Four Seasons of Love" photo shoot (her on a swing). Also, the inside gatefold has the lyrics to LTLYB.

It should be noted that this is actually a compilation from the "Love To Love You Baby" and "A Love Trilogy" LPs. The original LTLYB LP (released on the short-lived US Oasis imprint) features some rather forgettable rock-oriented numbers on side 2.

This compilation is a good one to get if you're only after her side-long epics, but the original "A Love Trilogy" LP is worth having just for her fantasic cover of "Could It Be Magic".
