Patti Brooks had a super Disco track from the Thank God It's Friday movie soundtrack called After Dark, which was produced by Simon Soussan of Arpeggio (Love and Desire) and French Kiss (Panic) fame. It's been said that After Dark is essentially lifted from an old Northern Soul track, My Dear Heart by Shawn Robinson.

Mar 04, 2008 | 8:51 amPATTI BROOKS was a DISCO superstar. AFTER DARK was a mega-hit! It crossed over to POP, to AM radio!! This DISCO CLASSIC was being played in DISCOS for over a year before the movie THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY came out. It was being burned out in New York City DISCOS way before her album was released. It was released as a 12" promo first, in 1977. Great breaks and percussion made mixing it easy. I remember Walter Gibbons remixing this song for over an hour once!! On my scale from 1-10, it is an easy 10.

Aug 07, 2004 | 11:45 pmI was wondering about "After Dark". The confusing thing is I have Patti Brooks LP "Our Ms. Brooks" which contains After Dark tracktime (7:51). The year on the LP says 1978 and the label is a Casablanca Promo.
My Question is which was released first the T.G.I.F. soundtrack or her LP ?

By the way FAST PHILLY, her LP was released first, and AFTER DARK was already a hit prior to TGIF.
