Creepy and chillingly campy, HOT BLOOD'S "SOUL DRACULA" starts with the
bandleader's deep bass voice saying "SOUL DRACULA!" followed by high pitched
female nonverbal vocals ringing with plasticized innocence. The female vocals
literally maintain the musical elements of the beatstructure while the
randy and emotionally suggestive bandleader seduces.
This is an early style of French Eurodisco most often connected to "Brazillian Invasion" successes of groups like BIMBO JET, HOT CATS and LES CHOCOLATS.
Although HOT BLOOD did release an LP with "SOUL DRACULA", only this song
captured the group's potential. Many would denounce this ditty as tacky
and obnoxious. I persists as a perfect Holloween record and a shining
example of disco as a music for the imagination.
