Nancy Martinez' second set saw her move into a Freestyle-inspired niche of dance music.
The sound was huge at the time and Nancy gave Atlantic more than a few hits.
Montreal dance fans will recognize many names involved with this one : Richard Buck & Robert Matichak (Lime), Steven Tracey (Loni Gamble) and Claude Allard (Lime/Trans-X).
FOR TONIGHT is a major hit and was played throughout the globe. The follow-up (and my favorite track) MOVE OUT is one of her best singles ever. Great lyrics by longtime Teneen Ali/Sizzle Records associate, Donna Pacifici.
IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME was also a huge hit in Montreal by another local act ; the Jerry Cucuzella-produced L.I.F.E. (You're All Played Out).
I loved the mix of freestyle with Hi-NRG.
I'LL BE THERE,HURT ME TWICE (SHAME ON YOU) and RHYTHM OF YOUR HEART offer even more freestyle rhythms... at times sounding like something Gloria Estefan's Miami Sound Machine could have produced.
The surprise on the album is the HOW WILL I KNOW-soundalike, CRAZY LOVE. It's a fun track and at 5'01 - the album version can be played in clubs. WITHOUT LOVE is a great beat ballad.
A very solid album.
