In the industry - this album was often referred to as Stacy's own CONTROL album.
She was now an adult and the songs were showing her more mature side.
Top dance picks : NAIL IT TO THE WALL, JUMP INTO MY LIFE and OVER THE TOP.
The other tracks were a mishmash of pop/soul (A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN, THE HARD WAY) that could have been found on any Pointer Sisters or Patti Labelle album released around the same time.
The three highlights (for me at least) - the great ballad LONGSHOT (pure pop and almost a movie theme in itself), TAKE ME ALL THE WAY - in which longtime Lattisaw producer, Narada Michael Walden, is now producing a young woman instead of a cute child star. The ballad is one of her best.
But THE surprise on the album is YOU AIN'T LEAVIN' - a tour de force in which a defiant Lattisaw sings her guts out and shows a truly different side of herself. To hear Stacy sing : "You ain't leavin' - you ain't going nowhere - No way... Here is where you belong and where you're gonna stay... No - You ain't leavin'... No way" is thrilling.
