Driven by the worldwide hit HISTORY ; the Mai Tai girls deliver a patchy set of soul/dance songs.
Clearly inspired by artists like SOS BAND and producers like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis...the songs aren't memorable though some are better than others. You'll find your typical 80's beats and soul harmonies.
HISTORY is a beat box-driven slice of soul...It was huge worldwide hit !!! BODY & SOUL with its happy-go-lucky rhythm track is festive and fun.THE RULES OF LOVE sounds like it could have been done by Change (when produced by Jam & Lewis of course !!).
All & all - if you loved HISTORY - then this one might please you.

I purchased an album by Mai Tai in spring of 1986 that included History, Female Intuition, Turn your Love Around, and my favorite Hold Me. That was the fist album that I saw by them. I felt their music sounded a bit like a mix of 9.9 (All of Me for All of You) and Nu shooz (Baby, I cant wait). At the time, I played the LP quite a bit. History was quite a big radio/club hit in NYC while Female Intuition's video was played in Bars as well as on BET.
