Fourth album for the Minneapolis duo known as Lipps Inc. and it is filled with many winners. 1983 brought them back in a big way.
FUNK 108 is miles away from FUNKYTOWN and venturing on CHIC territory.CRYING OVER YOU was clearly influenced by the sound of Human League and other synths band dominating the charts at the time.
ADDICTED TO THE NIGHT is a Hi-NRG dancefloor hit ; pumping and addictive.Electric guitar and keyboards dominate. It's a hit !
ON TO YOU is low-key but danceable and breezy...it reminded me of HOW LONG from the 2nd LP.
Side 2 opens with my favirites LIPPS INC track EVER !!!! The dramatic and extraordinary NEVER COULD BE SORRY took my breath away the moment I first heard it.
CHOR PRACTICE is another clear winner.Instrumental but with "Oooooh Ohhhh" thrown in for good measure.
LET'S GET BACK TO THE FLOOR is a moody and danceable slice of Prince-like funk...(Minneapolis-influence very evident here !!!)
Easily one of their best albums - and a huge step forward for them.
