Patrick Norman (who was born Yvon Ethier) has been releasing records in French since the early 1970s.
The Quebecer found himself with a huge disco hit in 1977 when he teamed up with Black Light Orchestra to record one of my favorite disco tracks ever LET'S TRY ONCE AGAIN.
The guy was mainly known as a balladeer and as one of the best singer in Quebec. (Try to listen to his 1974 single called PAPILLON.) He is not only talented as a singer but he is among the best guitarists this country has ever produced. He even released an instrumental CD called GUITARE in 1997.
The album is also the sort of disco album that could also be regarded as a MOR record... (the kind of disco that Johnny Mathis or Andy Williams went on to produce). Adult pop with a beat.
LOVING YOU - the 2nd single off the disc was always my favorite along with the funky title track.
As a companion piece to BLACK LIGHT ORCHESTRA's own TRIBUTE TO BARRY - Norman does his best to channel Barry White during the intro of BRING BACK THE LOVE. A disco-fied version of Johnny Mercer's classic I REMEMBER YOU is also included.
Nowadays Patrick Norman is a well respected country/pop artist and is still very active on the Quebec music scene.
