The third El Coco LP, Let's Get It Together, finds Laurin Rinder and W. Michael Lewis exploring several different genres, as well as collaborating with vocalist and songwriter Merria Ross. This is the last of their "early period"-sounding releases. The songs range from covers of standards like "Quiet Village" to the jazzy outing of "Put On Your Jeans" to not one, but two laughably over-the-top fake orgasm tracks with "Choka Ma Love" and "Fait Le Chat". However, it's the Ross-penned title track which really steals the show, despite -- or perhaps because of -- it's simple repetition. Based around a funky bass line and wah-wah riff (performed not with guitar, but a keyboard instrument called a Clavinet), the song is of the earworm variety. This undoubtedly set the path for their future releases. From here, the production quality of their releases would increase dramatically, and they would also create distinct styles for each of their different acts.
