NOTES ON THIS VINYL RECORD:

12" Single featured stereo side 1, mono side 2
5 minute remix based on album/radio single.

This song borrows the classic Four Tops bass line from "Reach Out, I'll Be There", and though a moderate hit, paved the way for Melissa's later dance hits "You Should Hear How She Talks About You", "City Lights" from the "Emergency" album(featured on season two of the TV Series "Fame" when Melissa had a guest starring role) and "Thief of Hearts", itself from the movie soundtrack of the same name and produced by none other than Giorgio Moroder.

Released September 1979, from the LP "Melissa" 1979 Billboard peak #39 December 01, 1979. Other single release was the ballad "Fire in the Morning", and Melissa's version of the pop hit "Whenever I Call You Friend" co-written with Kenny Loggins.

Where can I listen to this Disco Version?
Posted Dec 05, 08 | 1:01 pm by Dean

Hi, Dean! I've tried replying to your member profile page, but it doesn't come up, so here goes:

I once held this single in my hands at a used record store in Manhattan. It was scratched beyond belief, and I left it there. It clocked in at exactly 5 minutes, and was the same formula as the "YOU SHOULD HEAR..." 12" single - they simply brought the bridge back in and let it play out - no "new" phrases you didn't already hear. I have since created my own remix (7+ minutes) from a digital source of the radio version - and if you'd like to hear it, email me at christopherallanmoore@yahoo.ca and I'll send you an mp3 of it. Nothing new or overdubbed, but cut and spliced with some new equalizing and vocal effects that make it worth listening to - good for a retro night!
