Few Deejays are so lucky, look on my profile and you can see that my favorite song is MY MALE CURIOSITY. So I get to post what I consider a DISCO CLASSIC, but may be the only one who does. There is quite a story behind this song, CLUB MYSTIQUE and myself. I got a copy of this in the mail in May of 1984, then got one in the record pool a few days later. It timed out at 120 BPM, and at the time 120 BPM was my very strong set. I played it in the middle of the set, and set the tone for the next year. MY MALE CURIOSITY became the BIGGEST SONG PLAYED THERE! I kept a written record of crowd reactions, and it was the number ONE song at MYSTIQUE every week for a solid year. Think about 1984-85. All the great HITS that were around, and this song blew them out of the water! What I soon found out, was that it only happened there!?!? NO-ONE ELSE was playing this song!?!? To this day I don't know why I was the only one, and why in MYSTIQUE it DOMINATED the way it did. I think that the way I mixed it in right from day one, in the middle of the strongest set, made it work. That and the REMIXES I gave it nightly. There is a profoundly strong KETTLE DRUM sound, that is featured throughout this song. I took full advantage of it, and exploited it in my mixes. That made it go great with the impressive light show that MYSTIQUE had, and the enthusiasm that I had, somehow transferred itself to the DANCE FLOOR. It was constantly being requested, and many came there, because of MY MALE CURIOSITY was played. I could write a lot more about MY all-time favorite DISCO CLASSIC, but Bernie needs the space. On my scale from 1-10, I give it 100!!!!!!

May 08, 2008 | 4:21 pmMan, that song was the bomb! I liked the guitar licks, that was the hook for me. I can tell you that although this song was a great hit at MYSTIQUE, only the guys and "dirty/nasty" girls loved it. The straight and proper girls despised the lyrics but could not help to love the Rhythm and beat!
Even today, this song wherever it's played in Miami the ex-diehard MYSTIQUE patrons can be indentified just by their reaction to the song.

WHOOOOOOOOOO!!
