MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

In the twelve plus years of this site, no-one has listed GIL SCOTT-HERON, or his incredibly gigantic hit,THE BOTTLE?? Don't understand it, but it gives ME the HONOR of listing it! The album was full of a JAZZ/R&B sound. The only hit, the biggest HIT of his life, THE BOTTLE. It became an ANTHEM!! Every Black man in America walked around singing,"Dollar nine get a bottle of wine". The radio stations BURNED THIS SONG OUT. Or so I thought. I was wrong. The people couldn't get enough of THE BOTTLE!! It was that way in the DISCOS as well. Constantly getting hounded by requests, you had to play it. I did! In the PRIME TIME and beyond, for a long, long time. CLASSIC DISCO at it's earliest. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 10. If you are serious about your DISCO collection, you better have THE BOTTLE!!!
