Kurtis Blow is known as being one of the earliest rappers to be signed by a major record label in 1979 with "Christms Rapping."
"The Breaks" was released in 1980 shortly after Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight," You can still sing along to "The Breaks" just like the good 'ol days: "Break it up, break it up, break down!" And yes Virginia, it's on CD.

You figure there would be a lot more on Kurtis Blow and THE BREAKS. After all, wasn't this one of the first RAP songs? It was played a lot by me, then I grew dis-like of it quickly. I simply refuse to believe that RAP is in any way, shape or form related to DISCO. Sorry. On my scale from 1-10, it gets a 2.
