I am pretty sure that this is PRINCE'S first Album. SEXY DANCER was big, but the creame of la creme was I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER. I remember that JACKIE THOMAS at Warner Brothers sent me a 12" version of I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER in 1978, played it in New York, then continued playing it Miami.
Favorite story-In 1980, I was the deejay at MENAGE, the owner and the Columbian Cartel were at odds, on a Saturday Night, I see a speed boat coming in to dock outside from Biscayne Bay, a guy gets out, runs to the window, throws a grenade inside, shattering the window, then exploding under a group of plants. A fire starts, people yelling and screaming. Mean while on the other side of the club, no-one is aware of what happened, and everyone continues to dance and party. As one side is running for their lives, the other parties away!!. I continue to remix I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER, as the fire department arrived. No-one had left the Dance Floor, that is why I didn't stop playing! Now is when everyone found-out, and left. I finally stopped playing PRINCE. This album reminds me of that night! Fond Memory? Enough for me to give this album a 9.
