NOTES:

From the legendary Thom Bell & the Philly family tree. Bell & James were Leroy Bell and Casey James. Having Thom as an uncle sure helped Leroy & Casey get their foot in the musical door.

Bell and James' "Livin' It Up (Friday Night)" was a popular cut back in the day and still draws them in when played. Bell & James only released two albums.

"Livin' It Up" hasn't appeared many times on CD, but is on the out of print Disco Nights Vol 7 DJ Pix CD and the Disco Box 4-CD Box Set by Rhino.

Drummer/guitarist Leroy Bell met guitarist/bassist/keyboardist Casey James while both were members of the Philadelphia band Special Blend. After the band disbanded, the two began a songwriting partnership BELL and JAMES was born.
Their debut single "Livin It Up (Friday Night)" went gold, going to number seven R&B and number 15 pop on the singles charts and thanks to a remixed version hit even higher on the club lists in early 1979.

This was a very strong song. It was on a nightly rotation for almost a year. At its peak, it was a PRIME TIME record for about six to eight weeks. By the time the dancers abandoned it, it became a CLASSIC. On my scale from 1-10, I give it a very strong 7.
