MUSIC REVIEW & RECORD COLLECTOR NOTES

Azul Y Negro were a Spanish studio group that seemed to love creating interesting tracks. This track is NOT Italo-Disco!

"The Night" is an early digital recording from Spain, but relleased on Mercury in Italy that one Dance Music Report writer said sounded like Yazoo? Don't think so, but Azul Y Negro are a group to look for when shopping for used records. Later tracks included "No Tengo Tiempo" and "El Hombre Lobo."

Like Bernie I disagree with the comparison to Yazoo!/Yaz, unlike Bernie I understand the comparison.

Whatever. "The Night" is a great forgotten record, better than "Situation," "State Farm" or "Don't Go" (but maybe NOT the rare re-recording of the latter, where Alison Limerick sings as though a gun were pointed to her head!)

"The Night" was and is a dance partner whose cleverness you laugh with, not at; its moves are calculated but so limber and well-timed that you don't tire of them. Thrilling.
