Invisible Man's Band

All Night Thing (12")

RECORD LABEL / RELEASE INFO:

Mango Records (US) / 1979 / MLPS-7782
12" Disco Single 33 1/3 rpm Vinyl record

STUDIO CREDITS:

Producer(s): Clarence Burke and Alex Masucci

TRACKLISTING:

Side A
All Night Thing (8:00)

Side B
All Night Thing (Instrumental 8:00)

NOTES:

"All Night Thing" by Invisible Man's Band appeared in 1979 on the Mango label. They were at one time the Five Stairsteps (a. k. a. Stairsteps)

There are TWO different pressings of this Mango 12 inch, but they share the SAME catalogue #. The one I have here is the longer 8:00 vocal mix. I also have the 6:20 vocal so I cued up and played both copies on seperate turntables to confirm that they are different lenghts and not just a typo on the label. The one here in the Vault is 8 minutes long.

If you buy from an online source you will need to confirm with the seller that it is the 8:00 vocal version as opposed to the 6:20 vocal. Hope this helps.

The shorter version of this song has appeared on the following compact discs:
Best Disco Album In The Universe - Volume 9

Why is it sooo damn hard to find and purchase this damn cut. Anyway, this song takes me to my college days at Illinois State University's Manchester Hall's "the pit," when my frat Phi Beta Sigma use to give some hot, pumpin "sets." I wanna buy this song...HELP SOMEONE!!!!!!

If you click the GEMM logo underneath the label scan you will see that there are plenty of vinyl copies of this Invisible Man's Band record for sale.

An edited version of this song appears on the CD, Last Party. Good luck.

I have and will continue to contact record labels such as Unidisc (who release oodles of hard to find 12" classics on CD) and Airplay records (who release the Funk/Disco/Soul Collector series, feat. hard to find/rare 12" classics) and if I can, Mango Records (or who ever owns them) to have them release the US 12" on CD. Help me out, by contacting Unidisc via email at: inform@unidisc.com ** The UK 12" is available on CD: 'Old School Volume 1' on Thump records; the UK 12" tops at only 6 minutes, which just isn't comparable to the 8 minute.

ALL NIGHT THING may not be a DISCO CLASSIC, it wasn't widely distributed when it originally was released. But it sure is a "Hidden Gem"! Great DISCO song that was heavily played during PRIME TIME HOURS and got a fantastic response from the crowd. This lasted almost a year. Easy to mix in and out of, pretty deejay friendly made it easy to remix. On my scale from 1-10, it gets its 10.
