June Pointer
1954 - April 11, 2006
June Pointer was the youngest member of the Pointer Sisters and passed away from what is said to have been undisclosed cancer. She was 52.
Former Billboard writer Barry Lederer added the following:
It was reported yesterday (April 11, 2006) that June Pointer, the youngest of the Pointer Sisters died at the age of 52. She was part of the group that had won 5 grammy's during their career. The songs they are most known for are - Yes We Can Can, Jump, Neutron Dance, and I 'm So Excited.
The cause of death is being listed as cancer, but word has it, that it may have been from drug overdose. She is survived by her three sisters, Ruth, Anita and Bonnie.
Originally they performed as a quartet until Bonnie left and started her solo career. We will all miss her for the joy they brought to everyone with their music. The two other sisters: Ruth and Anita will still continue to perform. Our prayers are with their family.

COMMENTS ON June Pointer
God Bless!! What a talented performer from a talented family! I'll always remember the appearance on The Carol Burnett Show (ShanaNanaNooney!). I've been a big fan since I was 7 yrs old.
Sorry Barry, June didn't die of an overdose, you were right the first time. It was cancer, it ravaged her. Too many years of CRACK? That smoke can kill you just as well. Either way, she will be missed by all. She was the lead vocalist on most of their hits, including my all-time POINTER SISTER favorite, HE'S SO SHY!! The Sisters tried and tried to get off drugs. He would swear off them, then fall into a relapse. This went on for years. I've seen that behavior too much in this world. It is a shame that JUNE is gone, but we can thank her for what she left us. Her family and her music. May God Bless you.
