John Hedges
San Francisco Disco DJ
Many consider John Hedges to be San Francisco's first pioneer Disco DJ with a following. He started in the early days of the scene at the Mind Shaft disco on Market Street where he played with Tim Rivers. He then moved on to The City Disco and was nick named Johnny Disco in the local press. Billboard magazine gave him the best SF DJ award in 1976.

Fantasy records producer Harvey Fuqua asked him to come into the studio to remix hits like "Can't Stop Dancing", "Don't Stop" and many more Sylvester tracks with long time friend Marty Bleckman. After that John started producing for Jo Lo, Lisa, Jo Carol Davidson and many more. "Jump Shout" by Lisa was a big hit for Moby Dick Records.
John Hedges started San Francisco's first DJ Pool called BADDA (Bay Area Diso DJ Association) and teamed up with legendary SF soundman Bruce Trondson at Oil Can Harry's.
John still plays to this day at the 440 Club/Daddies in the Castro.
