Andy it's your old friend Frankie Sestito and it is great to see your name in this category as you are truly a talent. I can rembember plain as day the way you would edit your music, there was tape everywhere and for the life of me ,I still don't know how you knew which was which.
It was a pleasure to work & play with you and Kurt, we sure had a lot of fun. Also your note about Kurt put a smile on my face, I sure miss him also, I still have most of my vinyl and just the other day I pulled out the famous "Tuba" song...
I still keep in touch with most of our dj friends, in fact I was just with Wayne Geftman & Jackie McCloy the other day at a dj forum in Atlantic City, we need to get everyone together in one room real soon. Stay well....

Hello Andy, My name is Brad Savage and I was in the band ZAP your brother had worked with in the years 1975 and 1976. I still stay in contact with most of the ZAP band members and we talk about the good ole ZAP days with Walt in the studio. I am sure you remember Football Stomp, Don't Wanna Play and all the great songs your brother produced for us. I still have an old 4 track tape of most of the songs however it was in storage for some years and the sound quality is very poor now. I even have some pictures of the band that I had in storage. I tried to find out what Walt is doing however I did not have any success in locating him - I hope he is doing well. Possibly you can relay the message to him that the ZAP members say hello. Much Success to you and Goodspeed, Brad Savage

Dear mr. Kahn,

Since you’ve co-written the song ‘Hot Shot’, I would like to inform you that we’ve made a new arrangement accompanied by a video a few weeks ago. The dutch coverband that I’m in is called ‘Jukebox’ and exists for 19 years now. This year we decided to hire a female lead singer, the 19-year old Adriana, which made it possible for us to record a song with a female voice. While brainstorming through our repertoire of covers, we unanimously decided to choose ‘Hot Shot’. We all liked the magnificent way in which a raw, jazzy sound was mixed with a funky disco vibe and thought the song deserved a ‘second life’.

In October we went off to Jukebox Records in Bulgaria, my homeland, to record my arrangement of the song and shoot a video. Our goal was to preserve the great musical qualities of the song and to mold them into a version suitable for today’s audience.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance.

Yours sincerely,
Vladimir Ivanov

Dinah, how great to hear from you again. Memories abound of Green Tree Lane and our world growing up. I lost my mother in 2001 and my father almost a year ago. Hard to believe they are gone. Walt, Billy and me (along with my partner of 27 years, Bruce Cahan) are all that's left of that clan. Glad to hear you and Jeff are working together in Seattle. Yes, "Music Man" lives forever in all of our hearts. Love to you and Jeff from Philadelphia. Andy

Hi back Andy.

Jeff and I lost mom in January of 2004 and then moved dad out to Seattle in May of 2004. He too passed away one year later. Yes it's totally weird being without them. Like we're orphans. Where's Walt these days and what's Billy up to? We'd love to have ya'll out to Seattle if that's possible.

Warm regards,
Dinah

For all the fans of Karen Young and HOT SHOT: It's August 11, 2007. All the new mixes, the remake of Karen Young's "Hot Shot" are about to be released. I have been thinking about Karen and Kurt Brusiewicz a lot recently - the great times we shared as collaborators in the studio and always as friends. Their spirit is certainly alive. It has guided me through the studio sessions over the last year while I've been working on putting together all the new versions that will bring Karen's incredible vocal performance on "Hot Shot" back to life. I know that Karen and Kurt will be beaming once again, as they did when we were producing "Hot Shot" 30 years ago!

HOT SHOT was a staple on every deejays play lists. The remixes that I performed on Karen Young's hit were phenomenal. Andy Kahn was loved from afar, I never met him, but played a ton of his music through the years. I welcome him back with open arms, where have you been??

Hi, and thanks for those very kind and generous words. I've been concentrating on other areas in music, but have now returned to where I left off so many years ago. It feels GREAT to be back in the studio creating Dance Music again! Please feel free to contact me at hotshotakb@aol.com

Hi Andy, I recorded in your studio with Walter. My group was Calhoon.
Do you remember Stop Sign. Would love to get in touch with Walter. All the best to you, Peter

CALHOON!! I remember you guys in THE CAMEO in Jersey, then move to Miami a few months later, and you ARE Rum Bottoms!! While deejaying at The Crown in Kendall, I booked you guys a few times. Loved you!! And Andy was soooo goood that I continued to play his music, even my last night as a DISCO deejay in 1973 I remixed a twenty-two minute version of HOT SHOT. I'll do the same very soon!!

Hey Guys, thanks for those compliments! You're causing me to blush! Feel free to contact me at my email address listed in a previous posting on this page. I'll be happy to give you the latest news on the "Hot Shot" remixes, including two new ones just been released. They were both done by Australians DJ Wayne G and DJ Paul Goodyear. FYI, "Hot Shot" was charted in Billboard for 14 weeks. Five of them were in the Top Ten It peaked at #7 over two consecutive weeks with a Bullet. Not bad for a 30 year old song using the late Karen Young's original vocal performance!
