Luther Vandross had a stroke in 2003 that had put him into a coma for about a month. He also had to battle several complications due to his weight and diabetes, but passed away on Friday, July 1, 2005
Vandross who began his career in the 1970s doing vocals on Gregg Diamond's "Bionic Boogie" albums and later Change for Jacques Fred Petrus went solo to major stardom in the early 1980s with classics like "Never Too Much."
