Kipp Waxwell
Seattle DJ (March 24, 1972 - Present)
Kipp Waxwell started playing larger venues over 12 years ago.
He originally started off in California, dropping crushing break beats with minimal filler tracks.
In 1994 His mixtapes led him to playing professionally in Seattle, Wa. Hosting his own clubnight Desire and promoting some well known parties Alienation, Funky Tekno Tribe (Seattle), Planet Funk, and most recently Pure bringing in Dj's like Barry Weaver, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Simply Jeff, John Howard, Jaquelin Christie, Simon, and Tony along with many others. He then also became a resident dj for one of Seattleís larger rave promoters U.S.C. productions.
Kipp soon after wanted to play larger capacity clubs that were 21+ like Seattle's Showbox, he felt there was a need to develop a mature sound eventually transforming his style into a funky deep house sound laced with chunky basslines, some 80's samples along with slapping hooks!
He has played alongside of international top players like Mark Farina, Keoki, Buck, Eric Davenport, Donald Glaude, Doc Martin, Deep Dish, Kimball Collins, Jeno, and Garth, to name a few.
Kipp had landed various residencies over the years hosting many deep house nights: Essence, Solid Grooves, Frisky, Bliss, etc. He was also playing after-hours residency spots for Super Highway, Habanas, Oasis @ Larry's, Noc Noc and so on forming a respect with major deep house promoters, club owners, clubberís and dj's up and down the west coast. Dialect @ OK Hotel, Liquidgrooves @ EMP, Swirlunderground, Rocket @ Planet Hollywood, Powerplant, Durasoul @ Last Supper Club, Dedecated @ Showbox, Flammable @ Rebar, Mantra Lounge, Definition, and Stereotype @ Noc Noc, Sunday@ Endup S.F.
While all of this was going on he also was holding residencies in areas like Tommy Africa's in Whistler B.C., Canada, Elektrik in Cabo San Lucas, Mex. Sin City in Anchorage, AK. Etc. He then felt the need for something more, Kipp got into producing his first album (Stormtroopers e.p. on Redhanded Recs/Tilted Recs out of Seattle) a colaboration with colleague Josh Quest including a few remixes to include a Remix from Nathan Cole's of England's (Wiggle) underground.
Kipp is currently working on his own record label (Soulpowermusique) and has many projects up and coming!
Djing, Remixing, and producing, is Kipp's passion, and even though it's his profession it is also his lifestyle. Everything he does and every set he plays expresses his love for the music. His dedication to attaining cutting edge records with seamless mixing abilities dropping older familiar tracks over them help the dancefloors feel the experience!
Presently from Seattle, Kipp has moved south to his home state California. He is now located in Los Angeles, where he recently held a residency (GET LUCKY) @ Viperoom on Sunset strip.
He still makes special appearances in Seattle from time to time at the Mantra Lounge, Larry's night club, Flammable @ Rebar etc. If you would like to hear a live set of his you can sign in as a new user @ battlemonkey.net (San Diego's premier online record store)
