Hey Mega!

I spent a few months up the street at Market #195 doing middays and handling production at Oldies 97.5 KABX back in 2000. I used to listen to you on MEGA down in Fresno. BTW-It's a damn good station! I still work very part-time at a hurban in Salinas, KEXA-Exa 97.9. Today I am a coach operator for Monterey-Salinas Transit (much more secure!) Anyway, to answer your question, Patrick Hernandez is French-I have the old 12" single buried away somewhere in storage.

Take Care!

We just fired up our new FM station OLDIES 93, the third station as part of Sovereign Communications. I just played Patrick's "Born to be Alive" and WHAT memories that brought back! I graduated high school in 1979 and that song was huge! My listeners loved it in 2006 and that's just great!

When I first arrived in Miami in 1978, I brought with me BORN TO BE ALIVE, it didn't have a domestic distribution deal yet, so when I played it, the crowd went wild! Very soon it "broke out" nationally, and with various copies of it, I started to do my own LIVE re-mixes, playing that intro over and over would create such excitement on the dance floor, that I had a hard time exiting out of it. The people wanted more. I always gave them what they wanted. Twenty minute versions were a daily happening at my clubs, always a solid song, when it was played years later, the response was fantastic. BORN TO BE ALIVE is a CLASSIC DISCO hit that will last forever. Thanks!
