Michael Garrett

Michael, for me was an acquintence. I only knew him (as a customer)from the Record Rack. But what stands out in my mind is how he offered to let me put my mix tapes in his store. When no other record store would carry my tapes (because they were bootleg) Michael did. He said my selection of songs and mixing were good. (And the tapes did sell)!
Ironically, years later, friends of mine were driving in there car with their 2 little girls (who were about 5 years old) when they passed by two boxes of records sitting on a curb (in the hills of Oakland). One of the girls shouted, "mommy, Segue likes records!" So my friend pulled over and put the 2 boxes of records in her car, drove over to my place and gave them to me. When I started going through the box, here were all these rare 12 inch singles!!!!! And on the records were written Michael signature. Thank you Michael.

I had the pleasure of metting "M.G." as he like to be called @ C.D. Record Rack 1995 I had just moved out to make a new life for myself.I'd got to know M.G.over the years. Before i knew it we where haingin' out at his favorite haunt "Moby Dicks Bar" on 18th@ Noe.He allways had a way of making me laugh my a** off!!I miss him dearly.I love to hear all the stories about the "hay-days" especialy all the stories of people i've admired for many years.
