Curtis Forte

1950 - Nov. 2002

Curtis Forte was one of the original mobile disc jockeys in the New York City area. Also, known as Phase 1, he played at parties all over Queens, Brooklyn. Long Island and Manhattan. He was the master woodworker for Richard Long & Associates, building the speakers for the most famous sound systems in the world. His mobile system was second to none being the same speakers used in RLA's famous clubs. His spinning was flawless keeping the party goers wanting more.

I worked with Curtis building speakers for the LOVE LITE, W-22 st, owned by Leroy Washington
He was a great guy. The most lasting impression was one day his son came to visit, and when he was leaving they kissed each other on the mouth. I cried with envy. I wished my son and I were that close.

Early in my life Curtis Forte' was GOD to me. I patterned my life after him. I became a DJ just to be like him. I ride my motorcycle 180+ Mph mainly to give him a smile as he looks down on me here on earth. I remember him being a very popular and sought after DJ. I remember his system being more power than Most Discos in his time. I recall him giving a lot of DJ's their start. I remember him as my father. If he could read this now I'd want him to know that his granddaughter is well.
    He was a GREAT grandfather.
    R.I.P.
