I was so sorry to hear that Freddie was gone. I don't remember him from the music business but from a very special event on October 22, 1985. He and Chris will always have a very special place in my heart.

Freddie Perren has contributed so many great songs, from the days of the Jackson 5, to the Tavares, Gloria Gaynor, Peaches and Herb. His place in history is secure.

I knew of Freddie Perren way before I met him. I was aware of his work with the JACKSON FIVE among others. There was a group of brothers out of New York, they were called TAVARES, and Freddie went to work with them. Soon it was hit after hit, DISCO CLASSIC after DISCO CLASSIC. Was Freddie the reason? Maybe, more than likely it was his influence and guidance that brought the best out of the brothers, and not one or the other. Freddie KNEW what it took to get the best from whoever he was working with. MINNIE RPIPPPERTON had been around a while with only moderate success, then hooked up with Freddie and she gives us her best performance on record, LOVING YOU, a record SO BIG, that BLACKS,LATINOS and ANGLOS loved it to point that all their radio stations played it, but to the point that at every house party or dance, it was played. Freddie, I saw you in action, it was a treat, GOD BLESS!

I had the pleasure of working for Freddie with artists like Johnny Gill, Clay Hunt, Lawrence Hilton
Jacobs, and countless demos for other artists. To this day I can honestly say that I have NEVER known
a musical and writing genius like him. While many will remember him for only his music, I will have that pleasure as well as the greatest one of all ~ having known him for the outstanding person he was. He has truly touched my life personally, professionally, and musically for eternity.
