Frankie Albert aka "Funkmeister Frankie"

Phoenix , Arizona Disco DJ (August 8, 1959 - Present)

discoBio for Frankie Albert: When I was a kid I loved to watch 'American Bandstand' and 'Soul Train'. Remember the show 'Dance Fever' with Denny Terrio? Well, I did those moves, with the locking and popping and splitting (many pants where ruined back then!) I mimicked for hours the dance steps and actually had dreams on appearing on those shows.

I grew up during the 'Disco' years and during my junior & senior year in high school and right after, frequented discotheques every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and most Sunday's. How did I get in under the age limit? It helps when you make friends with the bouncers and I promised them I would never drink. And never did. Even my parents didn't know I was doing this. They would have killed me! (LOL). I would not come home till the sun came out! We danced in the parking lots with our car stereo's (8 tracks/cassetes) or anywhere after a club closed. Ahh, those where the times!...

In 1980, I got my start spinning the vinyl in local disco's in Phoenix Arizona. Places like 'Booby McGees', 'Reubens' Nightclub where hot, happening places and I would work one night a week at each.

One night a man named Gene Fazio was in the crowd at one of the clubs and approached me to come work for his night-club he was opening in Northwest Phoenix. 'Park Place' discotheque was born in 1982 and I got my chance to spin from the ground floor up honing my style of dance and funk. Park Place, thanks to all employees involved, including my love of music, made the club as popular as the 'Garage' was in NY. The place was happening!

On the side I did mobile dj parties at peoples homes, the desert, country clubs and wherever fun was needed, hauling crates of vinyl, turntables, 8-tracks, cassettes, speakers and amps. Where was the CDs' back then???

By 1986 'Park Place' was losing steam as post disco was changing it's course and the owner made it clear to me it was time for me to change my style and he wanted to turn the club into a rock & roll format. I wasn't ready for change as disco, dance & funk was breed into my soul. So I quit.

I quit the club scene and then jumped into making 'Fastrax Entertainment & Mobile DJ Service' a full-time business. I formed the 'Saturday Night Old School Flashback Party' in 1988 where I would dress the full part (wig, bell-bottoms, platform shoes, jewelery, etc) and play and dance behind the rig to the top music hits. I brought the business to CA in 1990.

I must have been born with the 'soul' because my forte is always been 'disco, dance & funk music, throughout my life. I do have a wide range of music to appeal to every taste, but it seems that the 'Old School' music never dies because that is 80% of what is requested.

I have been blessed to be able to bring music and fun into peoples lives and get paid for it.

This white boy plays that funky music!

Please change Frankie's nickname to the 'BoogieMan'. He has been known by that name since 1980.
Thanks!
