As I was going through this portion of DISCOMUSIC.com, I saw his picture, and remembered his name from my past. I felt awkward when I realized that this was one of the DISCO pioneers. BARRABBAS could be the "FIRST" DISCO band!! I am looking for the first DISCO song, the first DISCO band, and even the first DISCO. " Woman" was one of the first DISCO hits, along with the others that also were played from BARRABBAS first two albums. "Cheer Up" was also a huge song. I am not sure exactly when "Woman" first was played in New York City, but I KNOW that in the summer of 1970 it was being played in the bars, clubs and DISCOTHEQUES of Madrid and Barcelona Spain!!BARRABBAS came to the states a few times back then, I remember meeting Fernando at "La Casa Giselda" a Spanish DISCO in lower Manhattan. He was a happy go-lucky guy who was over-whelmed by all the buzz his band had created in the BIG APPLE. He told me, and I can still picture him telling me (thirty-seven years ago) that he never expected to do more that simply make a living off his music. He thought he would play at local bars in Spain his whole life. I am glad he didn't. Thank you for being one of the first.

I have been the PA and coordinator of Fernando from 1990 to his death the 5th of july of 2003.I'm now managing his catalogue by order of his son Rodrigo Arbex and her daugther Veronica Arbex. What can I say! he was a genius ... not only an outstanding composer in every field of the music : pop, rock, easylistening, symphonic, soundtracks amongst others, but also a nice an honest person who believed in music who believed in life and who believed in human beings. He introduced myself in the showbizz and everything I know about it is because of his teaching. I'm honoring him with these words. Fernando thank you!!! you will be always in our minds. Rest in peace Fernando, Rodrigo is taking over to keep spreading out your memory and your music all around the world altogether with my help. God bless you !!!
