No female singer could or has since compared to her. Others have gotten so much more press than Laura, but I have never understood why. She had it all--beauty, talent, sweetness--and tough times. Every time I hear her recordings, I am always in awe of her powerful and beautiful voice.

WOW!! How sad!! I'm a little younger but I still remember my aunt playing her songs on the stereo and I have fond memories of those songs. I never knew the name of the singer until today actually when I looked up the song Self Control on google. I wasn't even sure of the name of the song, but I typed Self control and Laura Branigan popped up on the screen and when I clicked the youtube site there it was to my delight! I love this song so much that I immediately purchased it on iTunes along with her other songs that I also had heard in my childhood but had no idea who sang them or their titles. It was just a very sweet coinsidence! I got so excited to have found all these great tunes from back in the day that I looked up to see where she is now and I found out that she's passed on.. Very sad!! Very, very sad. I agree that she had one of the best voices ever! God bless and may you rest in peace Laura Branigan..

I'm so sorry to hear about laura's passing,I don't know what to say.She has a voice like an Angel and is probably singing with them right now.I'm not sure why God allowed her to leave here, but the earth is lacking a good spirit and soul due to her absence. My heart goes out to her friends and family,I never even met her,and i miss her...she lives on....and not just in our hearts and memories-God bless you and keep you Laura, you'll be missed down here

I am extremely prejudice when talking or dealing with the subject of LAURA BRANNIGAN. You see, I knew her personally for many years. As one of my favorite people in this business, I can't help but love her and everything she ever did. Besides having the very BEST voice ever, better than Streisand, Summer, Dion, Houston and Carey. She could hit notes that others wished they could. GLORIA had such energy, it came from deep inside her, and it showed up on the dance floor. It would pack the floor every time it was played. It could be a streight club, it packed the floor. In a gay club, it packed the floor. No matter where you heard it, in a car, in a store, someone walking by with a boom-box, it didn't matter, you wanted to hear the song through its entirety. I mixed for her a twenty-one minute version of GLORIA for her personal use in 1983. She wanted to pay me, I wanted something other than money!! I got neither! DINNER!! But she was my baby, I loved her so. WHAT A VOICE!! I remember going to BACKSTREET in Ft. Lauderdale to see her sing. Scott Blackwell was the deejay, after presenting her to the jubilant crowd, Scott warned me that he would have trouble going back on, that the crowd(mostly gay men) wouldn't let her leave. He was right, it took me, and four huge bouncers to get her out of there. Her reaction was amazement. "For Me?" she questioned. She went back out after Scotty started playing, standing far from the booth and the stage, she appeared on some stairs. The place went nuts, they rushed her. She spent the next two hours signing autographs, and dancin with all these crazy fans. She was hurt emotionally and financially when MTV pulled the video version of SELF-CONTROL. There were rumors that she was"different". She was, she was the best. There was no emotional problems, she wasn't a lesbian, she loved her husband who passed away after a long sickness. I cried when LAURA passed away, but I played GLORIA and I felt much better. After writing this you got one guess what I am going to do next...GLORIA!! I MISS YOU, GOD BLESS.

One of the best Laura Brannigan songs I came across to listen & play was the 12" remix of "Spanish Eddie". What a voice, what a song! Still keep a copy which I listen to once in a while. Will miss her voice and great looks.

Every now and again, you hear a story that breaks your heart, and this is one of them. Laura left the business for many years to devote herself to care of her ill husband, and she did that until the day he died. Sadly just when she was coming out of her grieving period and about to concentrate on Laura, she suddenly passes. It just doesn't seem fair, but there are just some things in life you will never understand. What a wonderful woman she was, with a beautiful and powerful voice. Sleep with the angels, Laura.

Laura Branigan was in a clase all by herself, wether singing disco or ballads she brought the best. I miss her and her music, hopefully we'll get to listen to the work she left behind.

Wow ! This is truly shocking. Did not know. Too young to pass away.

Wondeful singer, personality, very down to earth.

"Never in A million Years" is such a wonderful ballad.

Branigan had the BEST voice in the industry. Whether she sang disco or ballads that voice was absolutely awesome. When she sang a song ....it became HER song. She will be forever missed. She was currently working on a new CD and hopefully this work will see print.
