Reader Comments on Tasha Thomas

Tasha's album "Midnight Rendezvous" is wonderful, and probably very hard to find but worth the search. The liner notes are great, and mention that Tasha did back up vocals for everyone from Kiss and B.B.King to Cat Stevens. Quite often, when backgroud singers like Tasha, Lisa Fischer, Ullanda McCuloough and others were finally given the chance to record on their own, they were only allowed to make one or two albums. Typically, if these albums were not commercially successful, they would not be released on CD. I think a group of us who are fans of the wonderful music not available on CD should think about pooling our money, starting a record company devoted to re-releasing the dance classics we can't find, and making our disco dreams come true.

I have this album! She was always one of my favorites. "Shoot Me" is an excellent classic and I feel she was definately underrated. I remember seeing her on Dance Fever singing "Hot Buttered Boogie" while throwing popcorn out into the audience. I can't believe she died at such a young age.

I, too, remember the episode of Tasha singing on Dance Fever and the popcorn!
Wow. What a memory. Sad a talented person died young. People should also remember she was in the Wiz as well as having released a handful of singles on Buddha and Roulette in the late 60s -70s.

I did not know this, Thank God, I found this site, Shoot Me With Your Love!!! Wow I couln't get enough of that song, it was one of those songs for me that where-ever I heard it, I had to get my dance on, the street, the club, the bus, the bathroom...lol anywhere, and to go so young....RIP Sister.

Shoot me With Your Love is undoubtedly the best disco/ funk track ever made. I have had a copy since it was released. I find it unbelievable that it hasn't been rediscovered and used on a dance track.

What a great song "Shoot Me With Your Love" is! I don't even own the LP. I just have it on an old cassette tape.

shoot me has got to be one of the best disco tracks ever released. funky and dark, a freaking masterpiece. I'm the lucky owner of both the album and the single. they are my prized possessions along with let's start the dance (hamilton bohannon) and baby baba boogie (gap band) ;)

Tasha Thomas had a few good records in the seventies. I would play them ,but none happened in my club. That doesn't mean they weren't big hits, they were, just not at where I was playing. Still no denying her talents. She was special. We miss you, God Bless.

Im glad to see the positive comments on Tasha Thomas album. It is sad that so many have left us so young leaving only memories to remember them. I have my album and hope my turntable holds out because the LP still sounds great.

Sad as her early departure was, it's encouraging to learn that her album, Midnight Rendezvous, has survived and is now (as of July, 2009) available digitally on iTunes and amazon.com. Anyone who is a true fan of hers can help preserve her legacy by visiting iTunes and leaving personal observations comments on her songs. Long live Tasha T.!
