Bebu SilvettiBebu Silvetti was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since he was a little kid, he knew clearly what he wanted to do: devote his life to music. At age 15 he formed his first Jazz Trio, and at 18 he left on a cargo ship for Barcelona, Spain. There he worked in several Jazz Clubs and met the love of his life: Sylvia. He came to the US, then Mexico where he started doing some jingles, and struggling to launch his carreer as a composer and arranger.

Bebu Silvetti Bebu went back to Spain where he wrote "Spring Rain" and life changed. He arranged, composed and conducted LP's for Rocio Durcal, Rocio Jurado, Raphael, Daniela Romo, Pandora. Created original scores for several TV Series in Mexico, and finally started producing for his own company "NGS" and for others, reaching the peak of his carreer when working with Placido Domingo for whom he produced 3 albums, Luis Miguel, Vikki Carr, Vic Damone and Engelbert Humperdinck. He was the best when arranging strings.

When I was 19 years old, living in Argentina, I got in contact with Bebu. He offered me a recording contract when he was in Mexico through his own label Nuestro Gran Suenio"(NGS Records) but he needed to go to Los Angeles and continue his career there. For me was simply amazing to know him, such a great talent! After my years in Europe I landed in Los Angeles and we met. I remember his house in Encino, his piano...he composed a song called "Moonlight Guitar" for me and we recorded in Hollywood. I was with Paco de Lucia at the time and I asked Bebu to speak to him and see if we could all work together but unfortunately the music business doesn't work on favor of the artist and the project vanished. Then he helped me to form my band for my first record and used to give me advices about arrangements and compositions, what an inspiration! he could just amazed you with his virtuoso piano playing!!! We were always in touch, and I miss him very much. So many memories and the way he was, a man with grace and enormous talent. "Chatito" he used to call me (something like "little dude") "you are the best guitarist I heard! ....nice comlement but he worked w/ amazing talented people so I just remember his words with love and deep emotions. He humbled me so much because of his genius. You will always be in my heart Bebu.

I loved his 'Spring rain' the moment I heard it and have loved it ever since! I always knew he was one heck of a composer, but the way he put musical instruments with strings and all the accompanying background is nothing short of pure genius! My 'first' love actually died of lung cancer, so I know what he went through. You are with absolute master muscians and will now play for the heavens. Of course we will miss you, because you were always a perfectionist, but also a true gentleman. Rest easy now; we will take good care of your music and will ALWAYS remember you.

Being a part of the world of radio for over 30 years, I worked at a few stations and I once came across the artist Bebu Silvetti or "Silvetti" and his Grammy winning "Spring Rain" and have loved it ever since. However, people praise this song but forget about my favorite cut from Silvetti's "Spring Rain" album, "Coconut Rain", another wonderful tune!

Silvetti is missed but his wonderful instrumentals live on!

On the Placido Domingo Album GRENADA, my spouse was one of the back-up singers. The producer was Bebu Silvetti. How he handled a man with such a strong voice was amazing. Bebu would struggle to get Placido to actually tone it down, it was easier that way he would say. we miss you, and I always loved SPRING RAIN!!!

Bebu was an amazing artist. I worked with him many times, most recently a few years before his death on a project that featured Cuban singer MEME SOLIS. SPRING RAIN will always be a classic.

To his daughter I met Bebu Silvetti thru Carlos Greco and your daddy was a great friend. I spoke with him shortly after your mom passed and he was extremely sad. He expressed he would fight against cancer and had asked the doctor to remove his entire lung and was feeling well, he stated he wasn't feeling sick at all. I am still in shock and really am sorry I never got to see him again. I have wonderful memories of a tru gentleman and gracious, talented humble man.

Silvetti... may be know for "Spring Rain" but to me he is more than that. He truly loved music and expressed every musical note with a gentle and colorful and mysterious touch. I learned a lot from his music and the arrangements he made.He has departed earth but his soul has stayed to give "a concert to the stars"

I know Frankie Crocker used to play it on rotation. That was when he was going through a European thing with Cerrone, Gino Soccio, Donna Summers etc. It was sort of an additional signature song.

I remember I used to mix "Spring Rain" with Barabas' "Mellow Blow." I used to love that song it was a signature Hustle Record... That was if you really knew how to Hustle, otherwise sit down. RIP SILVETTI
