COMMENTS ON Don Myrick
One of his best renditions was his piece on the live version of "Reasons." Such a heavenly and surreal piece to be exact.
You will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.
Don Myrick you and your God gift for music is missed, we've played your solo from Reasons so much we had to buy two more copies.
Are there any other music that Don played, that we can purchase.
God bless you all,
Burrell and Becky
I never payed attention to Don when he was wih Earth, Wind and Fire. I first noticed his talents when he toured with Phil Collins. His sax touched me when he played in "One More Night". An absolute talented person.
What a tragedy.
The weird thing is....
he was murdered by LAPD 'accidentally'; my 2nd wife I married on xmas eve 2 years ago, we went to high school together.....she is a retired.......you got it, LAPD police officer. At times it is tough to talk to her about crime, especially with LAPD and their ongoing problems.
How can I order the music for " Reasons?"
Is there an alto saxapone music version?"
I've been trying to obtain a music copy / alto saxaphone version of "Reasons."
I'm 50yrs. old and still playing EWF.
Don Myrick must have had a serious healing of the heart & soul while playing this tune.
I've had that feeling of "Heaven" with that tune. It can be a tune for anybody. Myrick's
play of "Reasons" penetrates the "Unknown" Spritual side of the Heart and Soul.
What a calm, emotional, sensitive, spiritual
feeling when listening.
Sincerely,
Gilbert Rossie

re re listening EW&F's Gratitude and whilst scimming th www and found out that the great Don M was murdered a decade or more ago. Ill Burn a candle for his soul
Vaya vaya senor Don M
My sentiments echo previous entries. I listen to the EW & F Live album all of the time. His genius is all over that album. I love "Reasons" but there is something about his solo on "Sun Goddess" that is funky yet emotionally soul-stirring. What a talent. God Bless him . . .
How can you "accidentally" be killed by police? Oh, I forgot, the operative word here is POLICE!! I, for one, definitely know what "Police" is capable of doing, so it isn't hard to picture how one of the world's greatest SAX players was "accidentally" killed!! When Don played REASONS, it was heaven on Earth!! Like the say in the live version, "He plays so beautifully, don't you agree" then the crowd roars with approval! At least now GOD gets to hear his heavenly horn play. God Bless You!
Don Myrick's alto solo on Reasons is simply put, a soul stirring masterpiece. I was saddened to learn of his fate. What a horn section they must have in heaven. One of the prettiest solos I've ever heard. Rest in peace, brother....
