richie was the master of the seemless mix if you were not paying attention you would think it was all one song. leroy idolized his talent and wanted to be just like him when he grew up. i have some of his records, you know how he put the big white sticker in the upper left hand corner with the artist and song. pristine condition have not been out of the sleeve since they came of the thorens in the late seventies. remember he got married near the end there, what was her name? a record promo girl shocked the sh*t out of all of us

Leroy Washington introduced me to Richie at Studio 54 when he came in for a guest spot. He was simply incredible. He was wore spiked wrist bands and one around his neck, long black hair and looked totally rocked out. He looked like he was born with turntables in his hands. Leroy was mellow and so was he. They would cue up each song with only seconds to spare and the mix was perfect every time.

A DJ's DJ. A true innovater. Hollywood was the club, and Richie was the master of the turntables. Pure history. 43rd St., NYC. Richie rocked the joint years B4 Studio 54 became the LION of the industry. Steve Rubel and Ian Schraeger were brillant to tap into the talent of NYC's #1 DJ at the time. Why they never put him up onto the pedestal he deserved is beyond my comprehension. I guess it was "their" club...and they wanted to grab all the attention. Richie was instrumental in breaking "La La Peace Song, and "I Will Survive". Rest in Peace Richie.

An industry leader, who competed with me for the New York crowds while I was at the COPACABANA and he at STUDIO 54. He won.

Many remember Richie from the Studio 54 days, and they should for he was great at the studio. But, I remember the days of the Hollywood; I always felt Richie was ahead of his time, great mixes and real good read on the crowd, as well as a great choice in records to play.
