Wayne was a very hard working brother, he spent days in his room running his scales and patterns from the lydian chromatic concept book and the cycle of 4ths. He was involved with the jazz workshops around at that time that we all attended, Brooklyn was hot with music at that time. I was married to his sister Lana brathwaite, so jam sessions was always goin on at his moms house with Norman, Frank, myself and many others participating. He had a unique bass sound and at that time was plucking his way through those songs. We wrote some compositions together but who knows where those tracks are at. A very humbly, sweet young man who loved his family, Lana, Glen, Larry, Byron and his beloved mom... Bigg uppp to you Wayne.. God blesss.

Wayne was a very gifted bassist and in my opinion was a pioneer in the very clean slap sound of a Fender Jazz bass that a bassist born in the same year seems to get the lion's share of credit. Check out the heavy groove and sound on Billy Ocean's LOVE ZONE.....that is killin' and bad to the bone. I remember seeing Wayne only once live in toronto with Herbie Hancocok and the ROCKET Band in the late 80's. Yes I remember him playing a black early 70's Fender Jazz with a rosewood board and what looked to be cream colored Dimarzio pickups. A nice cat with a nice smile and one of the best tones I have ever heard to come out of a Jazz bass. It is a pity I strongly feel that contemporaries/pioneers of Wayne's today NEVER seem to give Wayne his due and there should be some special mention of him out here in the Bass world at least, not to mention his formidable talents as a producer and songwriter...very sad he passed so young. I am a fan forever. Rest in Peace Brother in the father's LOVE.

Wayne was a really good friend of my, in fact, my first boyfriend. He was always very respectful, and showed great concern about my well being. His family was an amazing group of people because they supported each of their dreams. The were hard working, and Wayne was unbelievable with his commitment to his music, which is why he was so successful. After a few years of dating, we parted ways and lost contact. However, a few months before his death, unknown to me, he went back to the old apartment I used to live in which my mother had still resided and left word for me to call him immeditely. Unfortunately, that number was misplaced and I was unable to reach him. I feel horrible because he told mother he had something really important to tell me, and needed to see me ASAP. I believe he was going to reveal him illness, and I feel so bad because we never got a chance to say good-bye!! But I will always cherish the special times we shared together -- I will always remember all of the rehersals and shows I attended with him. I've always prayed God has blessed and kept him close to him. He was a great guy!! Wayne, I am always missing and thinking of you!! Nat

You could see there was always something special about him. Not only him as being a musician but as a friend. There is one this said about Wayne before he left here I witness him accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Wayne was an amazing artist that was very humble. I knew him for several years in the late 80's and early 90's. Was very shocked to hear of his passing when I went to a Kenny G concert in Michigan. I tried to contact family, but no info. I miss the magic he created in his music. I pray for his mother, brother, wife and son. May God bless them.... Thank you for this page. The world has truly misses an amazing musician. Wayne thank you for all the beautiful moments with your music.

Wayne was a wonderful bass player and a talented musician/producer. He was also a lot of fun, and a sweet and generous spirit. I will miss him always, and I was blessed to know him. We hung out way back in the day when he was in LA, and he could always make me laugh. God bless his family, and I know he is making beautiful music in Heaven with the rest of the Angels.
