Mike "Michael DJ" Kinsey
Connecticut Disco DJ (b. 19-- - ????)
Mike Kinsey was a New Haven, Connecticut area club DJ from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s.
Michael Kinsey was a resident at such discotheques and nightclubs as Daniel's, Studio 71 and Montego Bay as well as playing guest spots at several NewHaven and Fairfield County area clubs.
Mike also did Dance Party Mixes for WYBC-FM.
Listening to Mike, I couldn't help but notice his creative style of play - an array of long blends, spontaneous drops, acapella overlays and two-copy "reworks" But music selection was his real forte.
With a constant influx of imports and new music, Mike was never afraid to introduce and break something no one had ever heard before.
Mike "Michael DJ" Kinsey lists Walter Gibbons, Nicky Siano, Johnny Pagano, Leroy Burgess, Larry Levan and Tony Humphries among those having the most influence on his style of play.
