Dana Farber

Female vocalist on Diebold releases (b. August 14, 1958 - present)

Dana Farber Hi. I am Dana Farber, the lead and back-up vocalist on several of the early Diebold & Co. 12" singles. The early 1980s is when I first met David Diebold. David has worked with my sister, Elyse Farber, at a bank in downtown San Francisco. My sister introduced us as I was doing some cabaret singing around San Francisco and David had started getting into writing and producing music.

David Diebold was working with Brian Soares on an album called Rockit Down to Midnight. David asked me to sing back-up vocals which I did, and that is where we started. We then recorded Magic, again with Brian Soares, using me again as the backround vocalist. David had many idea's and wrote Your Eyes which this time I sang the lead. We released this song and performed all over SF, at the Troc, City Nights Disco, Gift Center Galleria, to name a few.

Our next song was Set me Free where again, I did the lead and back-up vocals myself. Make it Work came next which is track #12 on the Sex Technology CD.

David had been working on a book for a very long time which he finally finished and released, Tribal Rites. He was becoming ill with HIV at that time. I had met my future husband to be, and we drifted apart. David met a new vocalist and continued to record finally making it to the charts on Billboard with the remake of White Rabbit, the next song that we had planned to record as it was one of my favorites.

I am happy for him that he had a hit record in his short lifetime. I miss him very much. We had a book signing party at Dreamland for Tribal Rites, where Sylvester made one of his last apperances in a wheelchair, the only time I was to ever meet him.

I had two daughters, now 18 and 16, and want to return to music for the enjoyment of it again. I do weddings here and there and recently remarried John Dote' who is also in music from the Bay Area, now living in Las Vegas, Nevada, where I will be moving to be with him. We will do recording as he has a recording studio, and may try and perform around Vegas. My email address is danasingasong@hotmail.com. I would love to talk to you about my career in the old days. Bye for now.
