DJ (b. 196? - present)

DJ Russell Russell Greene
Know to his public and fans as DJ Russell / The Soulful Music Man

Started Spinning music during the Early 80s. Russell was Raised in Queens and Long Island and began to embrace the sounds of Hip-Hop and was influenced by Break dancing.

Traveling to the Bronx to watch Grand Master Flash spin or uptown in Harlem where he first saw RUN DMC perform 'Here We Go' at The beloved Funhouse. In 1983 he took pride in the art of Graffiti.
It wasn't a form of Vandalism but an expression of art that was an outlet for the NYC youths that had no other avenue to showcase their artistic talent's.

Thus brings us to his love and passion for music. watching GrandMaster Vic and the Disco Twins in Jamaica Queens & Divine Sounds and The Cadillac Crew in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn gave him a new interest, DJing! He soon linked up with Kid Flash and Craig Gee and became know as DJ Finesse of the Juice crew allstars which was also linked to Roxanne Shante, DJ Marley Marl, MC Shan and about several others as well.

During the Mid to Late 80's the crack epidemic sent its horrifying wave through the streets of NYC. Either most of his friends became victims of drugs or jailed for selling it. Afterwards in 1987 his Uncle took him to the PARADISE GARAGE to witness Real DJs with Real People that didn't care about COLOR, SEX, or even FINANCIAL STATUS. After witnessing this Paradise of social freedom, his journey continued to the underground events such as Wild Pitch Parties, The Soundfactory, Redzone, MK's, Red Parrot, The Tunnel, Warehouse, Mars, Soundfactory Bar, Body and Soul, Shelter and some of todays Soulful underground places as well. Music brings all souls together. It is a healer. Where I'm from we don't care if you are Black, White, Asian, Jew, Middle-eastern or Gay. When you enter the underground sounds of DJ Russell

YOUR COMMENTS ON DJ Russell

DJ Russell? What happen to DJ Finesse?
You went from Hardcore Hip-hop in the 80's to House music?

He should be on VH1 (Where are they now?)

Do you have any Old School 'Club Red Parrot' CDs?
My partner attended the Red Parrot in NYC back in the 90's.
