Marlena Shaw

Disco singer (b. 1942 - present)

Marlena Shaw Marlena Shaw started out as a soul artist on the Bluenote label.
Marlena's soulful vocals set her apart from many artists at that time and she was on her way.

Bluenote cashed in on the Disco craze by the mid 70's and that was when Marlena released "It's better than walking out", which was the first 12" on the Bluenote label.

Marlena Shaw Switching to Columbia records in 1977, Marlena Shaw's first album here includes the disco track "Pictures and Memories". Marlena, however, will probably be best remembered by Disco fans for her cover version of Diana Ross's "Touch Me in the Morning" - the disco medley on the LP includes several late 1960's and early 1970's soul tunes. Listen out for "Love dancin'" and "Haven't we been in love before".

She has been in the business 40 plus years and still going strong.
Love you Marlena
and "Touch Me In The Morning" is in my Top 50 Disco Songs.
I love that song because to choose only 50 out of so many is almost painful.

IT" BETTER THEN WALKING OUT is a DISCO CLASSIC. Marlena took that song and made it hers and hers alone. Incredible vocal range, and very good for the soul, and not bad on the eyes.

It's like going to your favorite Italian Restaurant. There is one item on the menu that you go for. That is your favorite dish. But you always LOOK at menu, it's inbred in our DNA. You LOOK at all those succulent, exotic and erotic dishes, and your mouth waters with anticipation. You want this, but when the waiter gets there to take your order, you always say,"The MANICOTTI as usual Luigi". That's how it really is FACT! Hey Lady, thanks for your help. It was honest and has a point to it that came through loud and clear.
